The Gumboot Dance has its roots in the goldmines of South Africa. In the mines, workers wore Wellington (or "gum") boots to protect their feet from the infected mine water. The miners developed a means of communication by "slapping their boots." This became known as the Gumboot Dance. The famous STOMP show has brought this dance and added their own original touch. Experience making rhythm with claps, feet, your body and more!
